This is one of the most famous old churches in the U.S., having been painted by Georgia O'Keefe and photographed by Ansel Adams (along with a few gazillion amateurs like me).

I'm sure that I photographed this church back in 1970, when I first passed through Taos … but I guess I didn't save the photo.  Anyway, since it has been photographed so often, and by so many really famous photographers, I felt pretty frustrated when I came back to see it this time: how on earth could I photograph it any differently from everyone else?

Well, this was my attempt. It won't win any prizes, but hopefully it's at least a teensy bit different. I simply put my camera down on the ground, used a cable release so that I didn't have to lie down on the ground with the camera, and then took a few shots. Some of them were pointed in the wrong direction, but this one came out reasonably well.
