Buck Scratching Its Antlers on an Aspen in Colorado Springs
We are housesitting for a few weeks in a neighborhood of Colorado Springs that has an huge deer population. You will see groups of seven or eight deer, both bucks and does, in a large percentage of the yards starting around noon each day. The deer are so used to people that they don't move away so you can get good photos of them. I'm not sure what this fella was hoping to accomplish but he scratched his antlers on this tree for a long time. He does not have any velvet left on his antlers so I don't think he was trying to remove that. Perhaps, he is just polishing them. Anyway, it was really interesting.
Thanks for your comments on my shot of the autumn ash leaves.
