Underlit eastern clouds at sunset over Abraham Lake, Alberta.

This was a few minutes before the shot I posted yesterday, this time looking to the south-east from the same spot (Windy Point). There was a great cloud front running right across the sky, and even with a howling wind, it was stationary. You can see how the trees on the point are permanently leaning because of the wind.

I'll post the finale of it all tomorrow.

Amazing underlit sunset clouds and reflection at Abraham Lake.

This was a couple of weekends ago, at another location on the lake, on the same day as yesterday's posting. It was at a place called "Windy Point", which is aptly named - you can see that the larger tree on the left is blurry from the wind!

We had been there for sunset, and nothing happened, and some of the photographers had left, and the sun had descended beyond the mountains west. We were sitting in our truck, deciding that we'd just wait a bit more.

Then, over a period of just a few minutes, the sun must have been lined up right with a gap in the clouds beyond our view on the west horizon, and underlit the EASTERN clouds. So this is the view looking north-east at sunset! We raced out of our vehicle, set up our tripods, and got a few shots and then it was gone in minutes. I'll post a couple more pictures over the next two days.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Frozen Bow Bridge

I've gotten too busy to share this photo I took a while back. During a chilly night 2 weeks ago, the Central Park Lake was frozen. As I worked my shots around the lake, I saw someone walking through it. Being rather stupid and borderline crazy, I also stepped into the lake and made it to the center to take this shot. Just moments after I snapped this photo, a security guard put some search light on me and yelled at me. This was quite a strangely thrilling experience, because i didn't really know what exactly I was stepping on. But I'm really happy to have gotten this photo. And I'm pretty sure I won't get to shoot the Bow Bridge like this again.
