To uproot and attempt to transplant them puts the species at risk. Wildflowers are dependent on very specific soil, water and light requirements which a home gardener can rarely reproduce.

Kolkwitzia, also known as Beauty Bush is an old fashioned favorite, tall shrub in Maine. Beauty Bush is an old fashioned favorite. It grows quite tall for a shrub, as much as 15 feet. I used to steal them from a neighbor for my mother when I was young.
This is a white Tradescantia or Spider Flower that grows as a perennial in my PHippsburg, coastal Maine gardens. It is related to the house plants commonly known as Wandering Jew and Spider Plants.
This is a member of the Pink family, an unknown species of silene. It volunteers in my gardens as a reseeding annual. It really is this wild, intense magenta color, too!
