Egret Carrying Stick
There’s another photo of this great egret holding the stick, this one shows him flying to his nest and gives a sense of what the Gatorland Rookery was like. He’s a few feet from the lady to the left’s head, happily flying over the walkway full of people to get the stick back to his nest.
I have never seen these birds so used to people, but there were egrets, cormorants, and tricolored herons all over totally unconcerned by the people walking all over. The roseate spoonbill, on the other hand, was quite wary.
