Today was beach day! Meghan took us down some winding mountain roads to El Matador, where we wandered a bit and laid out in the sun, relaxing. There weren’t a whole lot of people there, so it felt nice and secluded. When we started to burn, Meg took us to John’s Garden in Malibu, where the tradition of great food, bad service continued. The food took forever, and when Emily finally went up to ask about it, they’d just forgotten to put our numbers on it, so it had been sitting up there finished the whole time.
We wandered into a shop called BURRO, which was pretty much the perfect “hipster bait” spot for Emily. We grabbed some ice cream and yogurt at a nearby place before making the trip to Point Dume. There were a TON of Pokèmon at that sandwich place, by the way.
At Point Dume, there were dozens of surfers catching waves out in the ocean. We could see them from the cliffs, and a few passed by us on their way home from the water. The three of us hiked up to the top of a cliff rock thing–Point Dume itself, I assume–we got there just in time too. A bunch of photographers arrived shortly after to take pics of a bride. They brought way too many strobes and got there after the sun was already gone, so I have to assume those photos will be not great. What a fun day!
