Panorama; Tyrone Cemetery, Washington County, Iowa
A small rural cemetery, founded in the late 1830's or 1840's, but now virtually inactive. It is typical of many such community cemeteries, surrounded by crops and rarely visited, but imbued with a sense of the dignity of the struggles experienced by those who founded it and the peace of solitude that now pervades it.
View from Tyrone Cemetery, Washington County, Iowa. Looking approximately due west at mid-afternoon, early October. The town of Talleyrand, which this cemetery served, lies approximately 2 miles west, but has now all but disappeared, and won't be seen on most current highway maps of Iowa.
A panorama stitched from two hand-held singles shot at 18 mm focal length (equivalent to ~29 mm full frame sensor).
