Man, I am wiped out. We got off to a slow start this morning on set. Despite a 7am call time, our first shot didn’t happen until almost noon because the keys to set didn’t arrive until about 10am. Whoops! Luckily there was a Burger King next door that provided a wholesome breakfast for the cast and crew while we waited.
As soon as we made it in we kicked it into high gear. Luckily the crew–most of whom I’d never worked with before–were in high spirits and rolled with the punches. We managed to push through something like 10 pages today. It felt great being on a feature set again! After doing mainly commercials and music stuff over the past several months, this was a perfect change of pace. I was reminded that, if you spend the entire day outside, putting sunscreen on in the morning isn’t enough for the whole day. Yep, I’m toasted.
We also ran the Ronin for the last hour or so of the day, which finished me off HARD. I do think we got the shots we needed, thankfully. Ryan, who started the day off sickly and hungover from moving YESTERDAY, was a huge asset all day today, so thanks to you buddy for coming out! He ended up taking slate duty on the side–weirdly, my first time working with a TC sync slate–and he nailed it! Pictured is my grip for the day, Chase Kiker. Between him and Ryan, my day was totally saved. You guys rock!
I know you were worried about this, but Ryan and I did manage to make it back home just in time for Game of Thrones. This episode was freaking awesome, too. Perfect way to wrap up the day.
