Himalaya. Cruising at 32000 feet (9800 meters) on the border from China to Pakistan just north of K2. The highest peak in the immediate vicinity of this airway is almost 26000 feet. This photo was taken at 14mm with a Nikon D4 (ISO 12800, 0.5 seconds shutter speed, hand held), so not zoomed at all. You can see the windshield wiper at the bottom of the frame. The mountains are really that close.
North Himalaya route from Seoul to Dubai. This mountain is almost 26000 feet high. We were cruising at 32000 feet (9800 meters). The photo was taken at 14mm with a Nikon D4, so the mountain is really that close. The lights visible in the next valley are from a little town called Gilgit.
