Here's a shot that I took in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. An interesting fact that I learned while visiting this magical place is that J. R. R Tolkien (Author of: Lord of The Rings) once traveled/hiked through this region. Lauterbrunnen is thought to be his inspiration for Rivendell, where the elves lived. Tolkien's "Misty Mountains" is thought to be a reference to the mountain range Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, which is the back drop to Lauterbrunnen. Tolkein once stated “I left the view of Jungfrau with deep regret, and the Silberhorn sharp against deep blue.” Obviously this place left a lasting impression on him. Anyway, if you ever have a chance to visit Switzerland, take a trip up to Lauterbrunnen and you will definitely say "Yup, this is Rivendell" I will be posting more photos of this area very soon, so stay tuned...
