Bill thinks this was in 1943 based upon his ribbons on the uniform and the single stripe on his arm….this may have been right after engineering school and before shipping out…note the engineering symbol on his arm above the single stripe, after engineering school, he probably got leave for a week or two. The location of the bench is in question. Kate Herson thought it was outside the post office, but the Post Office was on flat ground and you can see a slope behind the bench. Kate Herson thinks this bench is outside the post office.Think building to the left might be Uncle Tom Herson's hotel and bar.Think it was called Tompkins House.
