Aside from the trees being A LOT bigger at the time of Fort Dobbs the understory was completely open as well, almost resembling a savannah...so, essentially, the completely opposite look of what we have today...
There are even now some impressive oaks in these woods, though nothing like what was found here 250 years ago...
A Sweet Shrub, which if you crush between your fingers smells an awful lot like strawberries...
The color green, as only spring can provide...

The woods here were amazingly lush...
Behind the visitor center is a nice half-mile loop trail which I couldn't help but take a look at...
Next up, some Sage, though I'm not quite sure which type...
