Bonnie Jennings of Petersburg reacts as the next round of models, including Ian Hopkins, 7, make their way around the tables during the Victorian Christmas Tea Sunday at the Summerfield-Petersburg Branch Library. This year's annual tea more than doubled in size given the popularity enjoyed by attendants last year. In addition to an authetic tea service, complete with its traditional light fare accompaniments, a fashion show and relevant history of the Victorian era was presented by the group Friends for a Cause, with all donations and their show fee to benefit the American Cancer Society in memory of Philip Scheuerman, brother-in-law of founding group member Joanne Scheuerman. Ticket sales for the event benefit the Friends of the Library.

The Old Train Station09 December 2012Norton, MassachusettsThere is a quaint old train station tucked besides an abandoned rail line on route 123 in Norton. It's listed as the East Norton Train Station and once serviced the Taunton Line. The station was built in 1853, and the structure is still in remarkable shape. I found a publication from 1899 that describes East Norton as follows: "East Norton is a post-office and station on the Taunton division of the railroad, where there are two grain stores, three school houses, two saw mills, and a few shops." It sounds like a typical whistle stop between major cities. The period benches and tables still lining the platform beside the ticket window show a history all there own. When the moon is right, I'm sure you can see the ghosts of old townsmen seated on this bench, smoking cigars and playing checkers. It's a charming location along what has become a busy highway.Post processing started with a brilliant cold filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, protect highlights, contrast, and adaptive saturation. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
