Ice Afire. I've been experimenting with different ways of photographing icicles. To produce this result I did nothing more than turn on the outside entry lights at our front door and illuminate some icicles that had formed just a little to one side of those lights. This was just at dusk, when there was still some background light. I was shooting 'outward' from the porch, i.e. the illumination was coming from behind me. The glow you see in the icicles hasn't been Photoshopped in; nor did I selectively brighten the icicles and darken the background. What you see here is pretty much what I saw with my naked eye. .
