DAY 51 – KABUKI-ZA
Kabuki-za in Ginza is the main Tokyo theatre for the traditional Japanese kabuki performances. It is a very classical type of drama form, with specific stylization and make-up, where all the roles are played only by men. If you read kanji for Kabuki it stands for sing, dance and skill. It is a beautiful spectacle of classical Japanese drama, and to fully enjoy it I highly recommend foreign visitors to buy an audio guide, which translates the dialogues to English or Japanese (modern that is, as the plays language used is a traditional Japanese, more old fashioned one)
Kabuki is a very unique experience, and Kabuki-za is probably the best place to enjoy that experience in. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed during the plays, so I have only the view of the beautiful building architecture to share with you today.
