"MAGNOLIA LILIIFLORA"

I photographed this bloom yesterday after work. It was a beautiful day, although not sunny. The Japanese Magnolia tree in our backyard has been producing blooms since late last week in preparation for spring's arrival on tomorrow.

Thanks for your kind comments on my "Catcher's Mit" photo yesterday. I'm sure our grandson will be all smiles as he reads them.

Have a terrific Tuesday.

"Japanese Magnolia"

When I see these blooms I know spring is almost here. However they are blooming everywhere and we are supposed to have freezing weather tomorrow night. All of the blooming trees are beginning to flower and I certainly hope this freeze doesn't damage the blooms. Real strange weather for Mississippi since we have been having temps in the 70s.

A busy day today and pulled this off my iPad so I wouldn't miss a day. Thanks for comments on my "Looking Up" shot yesterday. Have a great weekend!

"HIDDEN"

“The less you reveal, the more people can wonder.” ~ Emma Watson

2:13 PM Update: I'm just returning home and logging in since this morning. I have so many important things to do other than babysit the dailies all day. Anyway, I don't have a clue regarding what's going on with the positioning of photos (it looks like a lot of them are out of position); and since I don't know, it's an ongoing discussion that I will remain non-participatory rather than attempt to dignify, justify, or solidify with an explanation. My advice to all who have concerns: "Do you, Boo!" It's a wonderful life and I'm headed out the door............again!

Can you spot the Japanese magnolia?

On the day this was taken, there were only four Japanese magnolias remaining on this tree in our backyard. A few days prior, the tree was full of these beautiful blooms. There are several different colors but the darker purple is my favorite. I wish these bloomed longer than they do. I took several photos of the tree, but I like this one because the magnolia is hidden among all of the green leaves and tree limbs/branches as if to be playing "peek-a-boo."

Additionally, "The magnolia tree is a fixture in the southern states of the U.S. and when it blooms it is a harbinger that spring has finally arrived. The magnolia flower is beautiful and has been given special meaning over the years. The magnolia flower represents "splendid beauty and dignity" and it is a welcome sight throughout the countryside. The magnolia tree was named after a French botanist from the 1600s named Pierre Magnol, and is a tree that has 90 different species in the U.S. alone." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://www.funzug.com/index.php/nature/beautiful-magnolia-flower-tree.html

Oh Happy Friday!
