On a cafe along Tetsugaku-no-michi (the path of philosophy).
Typical for Japan it wasn't open at 9:00am in the morning, in Australia some cafes opened at 7:00 or even earlier.

During the cherry blossom season this place is crowed with people, but in mid winter we were about the only people on the path.

This aqueduct on the outskirts of Kyoto was built in 1890 to supply water to Kyoto from Lake Biwa. It's pretty unique as there aren't too many brick structures in Kyoto. It also makes a great backdrop for portraiture.

"The Bamboo Forest" © Luke Zeme 2013

This amazing Bamboo Forest is located just a short train ride outside of Kyoto, and its just like a surreal dream. I'll never forget my visit because it was raining so heavy that I had to buy myself an umbrella to explore the area. If you are only in a place once, you can't let a little rain stop you from enjoying it.
