We shot like crazy today! This morning the REDROCK folks came up early to help us setup the Ronin with a few additional attachments. I was able to run in briefcase mode and follow focus at the same time! I chased a bike back and forth until I got too tired to keep going, and then we moved on to a shot of somebody taking a picture.
This afternoon we shot Ione here pouring purple fluid (her idea!) amongst her fish. We were going to do a shot later this afternoon of a skateboarder rolling through campus, but the weather forecast said rain was imminent. None of us really believed it until literally 45 minutes before it was supposed to start. Suddenly a huge wind swept in with dark, ominous clouds. I ended up having to call off the skateboard shoot.
Ernestine then pitched that, since we were all there, we should just go pickup a shot of somebody ripping paper. I required that we talk over it while drinking coffee, so we loaded up the carts and drove to the GAB. In the time it took us to go inside, drink coffee, and come back out, the rain had started to drizzle in. We drove to Sage Hall to get our shot, which went brilliantly thanks to the random student we grabbed to participate.
By the time we wrapped the shot, we were in that situation where dozens of students were grouped around the exit doors of the building, contemplating whether they should make a run for it and push through the wall of falling water, or maybe just skip that next class. The deluge was monsterous. It was raining so heavily that the moving cart was actually pushing water so it spilled in through the windshield vent.
Dallas got hit pretty hard too. Every traffic light in North Dallas was out, which made for some lovely traffic. When I got home the power was out too, and it hasn't come back yet. Luckily, I have enough charge to make it back to work tomorrow, and hopefully my phone will stay charged long enough to wake me up in the morning.
