North Pier Lighthouse Sunset
California
So I took the opportunity to get away over Christmas and New Year to spend some much needed time with family as well as some rest and relaxation in the Highlands of Scotland (actually wanted to do some serious winter walking but the poor weather didn't really allow that). So here's a photo taken as the sun was literally setting on 2012...
After clearing some of the editing backlog, I'll be sure looking forward to what is already looking like an amazing 2013 with the Barnaby Festival exhibition to prepare for, some exciting travel plans and lots of portraits and video projects already booked as well as hopefully taking and exhibiting landscapes and other work in some ever more interesting places!
Thanks to everyone for your continued support and very best wishes to you all for 2013. Peace

Sapelo Island can only be reached by boat. The island has a very interesting historical background.

"Sapelo Island Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Georgia, United States, near the southern tip of Sapelo Island, Georgia. It is the nation's second-oldest brick lighthouse and the oldest survivor of Winslow Lewis lighthouse projects.

Sapelo Island Lighthouse was built in 1820. It was designed and built by Winslow Lewis. It had a fifteen Lewis lamps with 16 in (41 cm) reflectors. In the 1850s, the tower was raised by 10 ft (3.0 m) and a fourth-order Fresnel lens was installed in 1854. During the Civil War, the lens was removed. It was extensively repaired after a 1867 storm and relit in 1868. The tower was damaged by a hurricane in 1898.

Sapelo Island Lighthouse was inactive from 1905 to 1998, and is now privately maintained and unofficial. The original lighthouse was renovated to its 1890 appearance in 1998 when it was relit."
