This squirrel is a little "nutty." He has been hiding his stash of nuts in the gutters. This past year new gutters were installed... much to his surprise... his reserve was gone. Now he is rebuilding his stash again. The old gutters were full of little trees when they were removed... wonder how that happened?
Satin Splash
Yew gather together... the snowflakes fall, one by one, on this yew plant branch
For many moments I observed this pair of Buckeye butterflies and they went through the courting ritual. The speed that each were flying is not evident in this picture that was taken with a very fast shutter speed.
Indianapolis Speedway where the Indy 500 takes place every year in May. Affectionately called the "Brickyard"
To get this photograph, two photographs were combined as layers in Photoshop because exposing to bring out the detail of the clouds blew out the detail in the moon. With two photographs at different exposure times, a shorter time for the moon and about twice as long for the clouds and then combining them, this photograph was created. The clouds photo was made when the moon was almost completely blocked by the thick clouds.
From an airplane window at about 20,000 the detail of an advancing cold front is quite visable.
