Roy and I finished our section hike on April 3rd, 2015 which was a day earlier than we thought we would. We dedicated this section of our hike in loving memory of our beautiful friend Molly McCarthy and hiked 92.4 trail miles plus another 3-4 for water caches and a post office hiker box pick up. We started our hike where we left off last year which was mile 59.5 and hiked to mile 151.9. It feels great to have completed the first 151.9 miles of the PCT and we can't wait to get back on it next year. After getting to our stopping point, we did something neither of us have done, we hitchhiked 17 miles and 2 car rides into the cute town of Idyllwild where we spent yesterday getting burgers and beer!
Hiking the PCT gives you time to reflect on what is important...family, friends, life. Your only jobs out on the trail are to put one foot in front of the other and survive the elements. It also creates a stronger bond if you have an amazing partner because teamwork is so important. Thank you to my husband for being so awesome.
Take time to tell the people in your life how much they mean to you and how much you love them. If you yearn or dream to do something, don't let fear hold you back. Live life, soak it up and breathe in all of its beauty.
