Laying down in the grass for an afternoon rest, with mom and sister close by, she watched me walk through the neighborhood. I had already spent some time with this small family of mule deer, and was heading home, but I took one last look back, and snapped one last photo, and it turned out to be one of my favorites from the day. I like it, because to me, it looks like she thinks she’s hiding, whereas usually I’m the one being called out from my hiding places by the knowing glances of my subjects.
