Mallard Duck in the Woods
We stopped by the pond on the east side of the Rio Grande on Fairview in Espanola.

We spotted a pair of mallards.
Mallard ducks above the bridge. Dave spotted an American dipper but I missed it.
A mallard swims around the pond next to Suloman's Dairy in Gilbertsville. I really like the bands of color in the water; they're the reflection of a wagon that was parked in a nearby field.
A duck forages for food in a pond next to Suloman's Dairy in Gilberstville, Pa. Every time we go for milk, we have to take the kids down to see - and feed - the ducks. It's become a fun tradition that's a highlight of each visit. Did you know that ducks have a waxy coating on their feathers that helps to make their coat completely waterproof? That's why the water is beading on its head.
Yes, it's a Mallard Duck - but they are so beautiful, and the water and reflection was so eye catching! Their feathers are quite lovely - view in larger size.
