"Trade Wind Paddlers" - The trade winds in Kihei are among the most intense anywhere in the world. This open ocean canoeist had no idea this whale breach was happening just behind him. I shot this from a 1/2 mile away with a 300mm lens and a polarized filter (ocean color tones) - wish I had a 600mm to get the shot without all the atmospheric distortion - you get the idea, though.
"Iao Valley Tranquility" - Iao Valley State Park, Wailuku, Hawaii. I set up my tripod in this creek and shot downstream, instead of the usual upstream type photo. The colors and textures were much prettier looking at this lush waterway's future, than it's past. Makes for a nice reminder also, to remember to be hopeful of what's to come.
