"FLAPPER BAGS"
"Those who corrupt the public mind are just as evil as those who steal from the public purse." ~ Adlai E. Stevenson
"Beaded and mesh handbags, which had been popular until the 1900's, made a brief comeback with the "Flapper Bags" of the 1920's. Just large enough to carry a few necessary items, these bags were a stylish compliment to the sophisitcated beaded dresses of the era. Many ladies made their own bags, often using designs they had created themselves. The bag with the mulit-colored fringe beads is probably a handcrafted item." ~ Text reprinted from the card shown in the glass case
Thanks for your comments on the "It Is What It Is" photo yesterday of President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama. Despite the "red bandit" and the fact that the photo disappeared from the dailies several times, it was the #17 photo of the day. I must admit that they looked stellar last night (at the Commander-In-Chief Inaugural ball at the Washington Convention Center during the 57th Presidential Inauguration) and Michelle's dress was "off the chain" and of course, in my favorite color.......red!! She is one fashion-forward First Lady.
Have a terrific Tuesday!
