"TRIO OF RED LEAVES"

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." ~ John Muir

Thanks for your comments on yesterday's photo. I'm still feeling slightly under the weather - no time for posting comments today, either; but I'll get caught up.

Have a terrific Tuesday.

"LET'S RIDE........GRIZZLIES STYLE"

"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure." ~ Bill Cosby

I'm feeling slightly "under the weather" (sinus trouble......sigh), so I'm posting this one a day early (Sunday). I won't be able to comment on tomorrow (Monday), but I'll catch up when the meds wear off:).

Thanks for your comments on "The Life of Riley" (B.B. King statue) submission to IndigoStudios's "African American-History Month" challenge with the theme "At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality." The photo landed in the #1 spot.

Although not the official Memphis Grizzlies car, the driver of this Mercury Grand Marquis must be a huge fan of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies:), but I forgot to ask. Anyway, while driving through one of the neighborhoods in B.B. King's hometown, I spotted this car turning on the street while we were sitting at the corner waiting to turn. I got out of the vehicle, flagged him down, and asked if I could take a pic. He kindly smiled and said, "Sure, Ma'am." I like the Grizzlies, but all the world knows that I am a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers (and yes, Kobe Bryant) fan.

Have a marvelous Monday and a great start to the work week.

"MISSISSIPPI GOAL" Statue

"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy." ~ Edward P. Morgan

The "Mississippi Goal" statue was a gift from family and friends of Emily Seymour Johnson.

I really appreciate your comments on yesterday's "Leaves of Red" photo.

Day is done - and so is the month of February.

"THE LIFE OF RILEY"

“The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.” ~ B. B. King

February is African-American History Month and this is my contribution to IndigStudios's African-American History challenge today with the theme of "At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality." B.B. King was born Riley B. King and is an African-American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter who is quite endearing to all nationalities and age groups of people. Additional information is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B.B._King

Believe it or not, but when I read her invite on 2/10/2013 to participate, this photo had already been uploaded to this gallery for my post for today - proof by the date (see below) it was taken. Although I am not a fan of blues music, I like B.B. King. I first met him when he visited and performed at my university's alma mater years ago; and to this day, he has continued the tradition.

Thanks for taking time to peruse and comment on my photos; SmugMuggers rock!!!!

Have an "I hear the music" kind of day, my friends.
