In the area around Foss á Siđu there are high, spectacularly-eroded cliffs rising above Highway 1. This is a land of very strange shapes - smooth, almost alien contours jammed up against sharp points. Beneath these cliffs lie sheep farms (there is virtually nowhere in Iceland devoid of sheep farms) and the occasional waterfall. Note also the trees in the foreground: there are not so many of these in Iceland. There is, in fact, a fence surrounding this small grove of trees, to prevent livestock or other pests from inadvertently killing them off. Icelanders go to great lengths to protect their trees.
