This small moth - 8mm long approx. is found pretty well everywhere in the world. It has possibly the widest distribution of any moth. if you walk through long grass you will see these tiny insects fly up for a few feet and then vanish as they settle again. moths are amazing animals with many strategies for survival. Some can send signals to bats to warn them that they are poisonous. Some mimic other moths and some can hear. They are responsible for reducing vast amounts of vegetation to mulch and are a major food source for many mammals (including people).
