Mount Rainier with a Meadow of Avalanche Lilies
Despite the years that I had lived in the Washington, this was my first trip seeing the Rainier National Park. This was my first trek for the first sunset trying to find some meadow of flowers hiking along the southern face of the mountain. I came across these avalanche lilies. It was also surprising how western sides of the trees were barren due to the heavy snow packs and hard to believe the snow would be taller than myself in this area. One thing that left an impression of my visit were how friendly and helpful other visitors were on the trails. I really appreciate sharing each other's experiences for which locations to see. I am grateful for the photographer I met during a fork along the trail offering me to try this part of the park.
