Near the end of the morning rush on a rainy June 3, a three-vehicle accident occurred on westbound Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of the Currituck Road overpass, causing travel delays in the area. The 8:36 am accident involved vehicles that were traveling in the left lane of three lanes — two 2011 Cadillac limousines owned by a West Haven livery firm and a 2006 Saturn Vue SUV, state police said. A 2011 Cadillac driven by David Gardner, 69, of Wallingford stopped for traffic conditions and a 2011 Cadillac driven by Joseph Nacca, 66, of West Haven then stopped behind it, state police said. The Saturn, driven by Helen Neckles, 77, of Southbury, then drove into the rear end of the Cadillac driven by Nacca, pushing that vehicle into the rear end of the Cadillac driven by Gardner, state police said. Nacca received a possible injury, state police said. State police said they cited Neckles for following too closely. (Gorosko photo)
