The world needs more vernal pools.
One of the many trails in the Musquash...my surrogate backyard. I just love it there. In five minutes I can be in the woods, away from lawns and their prerequisite mowers.
Mount Foss isn't very tall at 1600 and change feet, but it does offer some nice views and an easy hike for sunset.
Long-billed Curlew
This was the first Long-billed Curlew that I ever saw. Curlews use their long bill to capture shrimp and craps that are burrowed deep into tidal mudflats or to catch deeply buried earthworms in grasslands. This bird was very tame and often approached me closely as it wondered the beaches of Fort Desoto Park.
Saw this handsome gentleman in Moraine Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO.
