New York City
A rare view of The Pierre Hotel which opened its doors in 1930 as seen from the Hallett Nature Sanctuary in Central Park.
The sanctuary was closed to the general public in 1934 and preserved as a bird sanctuary. It remained untouched until 2001 when the Central Park Conservancy took up its restoration and maintenance. In the fall of 2013 this area, one of three woodlands in Central Park, was open again for limited tours through the sanctuary. Open hours for the fall season take place every Tuesday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, so if you have time on your lunch break you should check it out.
