Green Tree Anole (Norops biporcatus)
Rara Avis, Costa Rica

I spotted this anole sleeping on a palm frond the night before. While bird watching just after sunrise the next day, I found myself in the vicinity of the just waking lizard and decided to snap off a few frames. Before starting its day, the lizard, which had just awoken, had darkened it's normally bright green coloration in an attempt to absorb as much warmth as possible.

__01/29/13__ Sea Glass
I collected this sea glass with my mom and mom-in-law back when my wife was in the hospital. We had gone out to breakfast near the beach (to a favorite place of my wife, where we went when she got out) and for whatever reason, there was tons of sea glass. I collected a handful, but I haven't seen any since then.
The pieces were arranged by yours truly, after dumping them on this black foam board. I wasn't really going for a particular shape, but I think it looks like an anatomical heart.

[last year] this plant almost died, but we brought it back...

A walk in the park
January 26 2013 was the Full Wolf Moon but here in Maine the weather did not cooperate - as soon as the moon made an appearance it was shrouded by clouds ... so I did the only thing I could, think outside the box!
__01/27/13__ Observing LA
Today was the last day with my rented ultra-wide lens, and I headed up to Griffith Observatory to take advantage. It was kind of a disaster of a trip beginning with horrible traffic and ending with a locked gate at the exit. But despite that and everything in between, I got some good shots. This one shows the big center dome that houses the planetarium along with a glimpse of the amazing view that you get from this spot.

Tonight I headed out to the Santa Monica Pier to utilize my rented ultra-wide (Tokina 11-16mm) before I have to send it back on Monday. It happened to be incredibly foggy. This view of Pacific Park rides was my favorite, and it fills up the 11mm field of view quite nicely. I took a lot of shots and they all turned out different. This one stood out mostly because of the purple glow in the fog and reflected on the wood planks.
