Utah ~ Omaha ~ Gold ~ Juno ~ Sword
Seventy years ago today, brave American, British, and Canadian troops landed on those Normandy beaches and parachuted in behind them to begin putting an end to the Nazi reign of tyranny. They died in the thousands. Countless acts of heroism and personal sacrifice punctuated a day filled with chaos and terror on those killing grounds, some of those acts known only to God.
For them, poppies ... blood red ... in grateful remembrance.
DP157-2014 Posted D-Day, June 6; taken and processed the same.
This is a good day to keep in mind what is most important in life, to be grateful for all the blessings secured to us by the sacrifices of others, and to let go of petty irritations and differences.
