SmugMug > all-time keyword > olbrich > The Bridge at Olbrich Botanical Gardens -Olbrich Botanical Gardens is a must see spot for photographers, especially flower photographers, in the Madison, WI area. It is a small area, 16 acres, but jammed full of a variety of flowers packed into 10 individual gardens. (Their web site is: http://www.olbrich.org/ ). Autumn is one of my favorite times in the gardens. This is the bridge which connects the Rock Garden and the Starkwater Creek Shade Garden. The contrast when this was taken was obscene. I took a series of 6 photos and selected one which had some detail in both the highlights and the shadows. Even then, I had trouble managing how the final image turned out. As an aside, due to the heavy rains we experienced earlier this year, this area is now closed due to high water. It’s also a spot where I sometimes find green herons, among other water fowl.
