Burning in Paradise - Queets Rainforest, Washington
This past summer my brother Lee & I spent some time hiking into the Queets Rainforest to check out the Paradise Fire which was burning about 15 miles from the trailhead.
After fording the Queets River and setting out we could see the smoke and feel the fire in the air.
The birds and animals were loud and moving around much more than is usual for this time of year in the Queets.
We spent a few days hiking through this section of forest and did manage to get really close to where the fire was burning. Eventually when the smoke got too bad we turned around and setup camp a few miles back the river.
Upon waking the next morning everything was covered in smoke. We decided it was time to call it quits on this trip and hiked the 10 or so miles back out to the trailhead.
