On a small patch of unfrozen water near the marina at Frenchman's Bay, a number of waterfowl crowded together. Amazingly, as I inched myself towards them on the ice, I was able to get quite close with disturbing the very large congregation of Canada Geese and other waterfowl.

Snowy Owl, Bubo scandiacus

Frenchman's Bay is situated right off Lake Ontario in Pickering. The bay itself partially freezes over in the winter months. This year, a Snowy Owl took up residence in the area. Some days it can be seen right on the bay, blending in with the snow and ice. Luckily, I was able to catch a glimpse of it on a beautiful and clear sunny day. An American Crow tried to scare off the Snowy Owl from its high perch on the tree but, the owl was simply not budging.
