USS Arlington LPD-24 ( Landing Platform Deck ), leaving her builder's, Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, in Pascagoula, Mississippi and being led out of the Mississippi Sound to the Gulf of Mexico by the Signet Tugs Defender and Valiant on the Port Side. It's destination is Norfolk, Virginia. This Ship is named for those who lost their lives on September 11 2001 , their families and this country after American Airlines Flight 11 struck the Pentagon. I have been to ground Zero at the Pentagon and it was a very humbling experience. There are two other Ships named for the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The LPD-22 USS New York after the World Trade Centers were struck and toplled by American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 killing nearly 3,000 and the LPD-25 USS Somerset named in honor of the Passenger's that brought the Hijacked Aircraft, United 93, down in Shanksfield, Pa. in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. .
