At least, if you are reading this blog post, you should have. Under the rule of thirds, we should divide a picture in nine equal parts using two horizontal lines and two verticals lines. That rules says that strong areas for your subject are where the lines intersect. Using the rule of thirds is the first step in creating better composition. In his book: Beyond Thirds, Andrew Gibson explains how to create more engaging pictures by improving on the Rule of Thirds. In this book, Andrew covers: The Golden Section Balance Stability Focal Points The Power of Three Dynamic Image Shapes Aspect Ratios Simplicity Space … and much more. Using pictures he has taken, Andrew draw on these pictures line and shape that help us understand his concepts about Creative Composition. As with any book, I recommend to take one concept at a time and work it out. Doing it this way will anchor these concepts in your creative photography process.
