Well, today was mildly terrifying.
I got in the car to go to work this morning and my low pressure light came on. Not the polite one that says "Please check your tire pressure" though. This one said, "Tire Pressure Extremely Low. Please Pull Over Safely."
I don't have an air compressor at home, so I slowly, carefully drove to the first place I could find, a Midas off Northwest Highway. The guys there were very nice, and they gave me some free air after asking all kinds of questions about the car.
Once I left there I called Jack for advice. He recommended stopping somewhere again and having them check for holes. I made it to the NTB on 288, where I went through all the rigamarole with the mechanics again. This time they pulled the car around back to scope it out. Turn sout, there is a pretty substantial crack in the inside part of my wheel.
I learned today that car tires don't have tubes. I thought initially that the damaged wheel had punctured my tire. As it turns out, a cracked wheel lets air escape from between the wheel and tire instead. Ohhhhhh...
I brought the car to Tesla this evening, but all the wheel dudes had left already. I found out that Tesla wheels run at $1500 each these days. And I JUST bought new tires on Friday. Crap!
But for some reason my new wheel, which will go on tomorrow morning, came up as no charge! Strange. I need to stop and get more chocolate again. I love these people.
