This is such an iconic part of the Didcot shed scene. Coal would enter in Loco Coal Wagons, which would then be propelled up the incline and onto the floor of the stage. When required, a loco / or tender would be placed on the track immediately in front and the coal would be tipped into the required space. Quite a messy operation, so the coal would be damped down with water first.
