Today I learned that my front seat doesn't quite fold down in a way that facilitates the transport of long cargo.
I drove out to Wilmber, TX to pick up my new standing desk. As it turns out, Gladiator (work bench company) is owned by or somehow connected to Whirlpool, because the pickup location was a massive Whirlpool factory in the middle of a small town. I was the only car among a multitude of semi trucks, but I was confident my spacious interior could handle a desk.
After giving a brief car tour to the security personnel at the shipping and receiving entrance (they insisted), I backed up to a loading dock. The desk is 8 feet long, and so the box was a bit longer than that. Even with the front seat scooted all the way forward, I still had about a foot or so hanging out the back. One of the workers sprang into action, grabbing a roll of shrinkwrap and doing the work you see here. It worked great! It also helps that the desk weighs about 135 lbs. The ride home was very entertaining to other drivers, one of which gave me a thumbs-up while laughing uncontrollably.
Cameron was gracious enough to drive up from Aledo to help me UNLOAD the thing, which was a pile of fun. I made sure to treat him to Roti for lunch, which was his first time consuming Indian food! It was a success. Now my roommates get to deal with this massive box in the middle of our house.
