Former Jasper High School cross country runner Johnny Purvis now resides outside of Stockholm, Sweden, where he runs on a Elite club team, Hasselby Sports Club. He was home in Jasper Dec. 3-17 to visit and compete in the Fayetteville Half-Marathon, Dec. 9. He came in first place overall and set the course record with a time of an hour and 11 minutes. He visited the Newton County Times office Wednesday, Dec. 12.
