Bluebell Railway Preservation Society: The Blue Belle 31/3/63
The newly preserved LBSCR Billinton E4 class 0-6-2T no. 473 Birch Grove
with BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T no. 80084 as pilot leaves East Coydon, which had been a pick-up point, to continue south as far as Haywards Heath where 80084 would be detached and prepared for the later return to Victoria as the sole motive power. No. 473 would, in the meantime, run round the stock and be joined by the preserved LSWR Adams radial 4-4-2T no. 488 to continue with the tour train to the Bluebell Railway where both entertain us to this day.
For those who notice more than just the visible motive power it's worth noting the snow on the ground which, by this time, had been there continuously for more than three months.
