With my rented ultra-wide and post-rain conditions, I left work and headed over to Royce Hall and Powell Library, both gorgeous buildings.
Being very careful to center the camera with the building, I took a photo of Powell from the steps of Royce, then walked across and took a photo of Royce from the steps of Powell. Not wanting to choose between the two images, I decided to smoosh them together in Photoshop.
Royce looks better as the top image in my opinion. If you'd like to see it the other way, I invite you to stand on your head.

PS - thanks for all the comments on yesterday's lighthouse photo. I have a DSLR shot of the same scene, which I'll include in a gallery of San Diego pics soon.

Storm Clouds 2

Namibia is the most arid country south of the Sahara. On the whole there are two seasons: sub-tropical dry winters May to September with temperatures from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius; and hot summers with easterly trade winds, which carry moisture-laden air masses from the warm Mozambique current to the east coast of Africa with temperatures between 30 and 40 degrees Celsius (October to April).
This shot was taken during a rainy season when Namibia was under the influence of La Niña and heavy rain was almost a daily occurrence. (La Niña is a cooling of the surface water in the eastern Pacific Ocean, and is an event that has an effect on rainfall patterns in southern Africa. It is the opposite of the El Niño phenomenon, which is associated with drier than normal rainy seasons in most of southern Africa).

Every type of weather condition presents it's own type of interesting subjects to shoot. A storm had caused it to rain for 2 weeks non stop, creating lakes over all of the farmland. These lakes served as a mirror for the clouds above. A bit of luck with a cloud break caused the sunset to burst through under the storm cloud, creating this scene.
