Sundog and Snow

This was my last full day in Banff and it didn't disappoint. After spending the whole morning looking at images associated with Lake Louise--See images from "Banff 2017 - Day 4 Part 1"--I thought I was done for the morning. While packing away my gear in the car while in the parking lot I saw the sundog surrounding the sun. I've only seen this when it was particularly cool and with the right mixture of ice/moisture in the air combined with clear, calm weather. While seeing a portion of a sundog is good enough, seeing a full one is particularly special. Seeing a double sundog is like seeing a double rainbow. Seeing a double sundog from end to end, that's like... I have no idea because I had never seen that before.
I spent a least another hour in the parking loot trying different compositions trying to get a unique perspective. While the really tight shots of the sundog with the trees were my favorites, most of them I realized would've been too abstract to really connect to people. This particular one looks just like a rainbow which most people can totally connect with.
