Stephen Knapp's Lightpaintings were on exhibit at the Dayton Art institute in the latter half of 2012. It was quite a creative and unique display of light and color that was a joy to photograph. It was one of my first concentrated efforts using a point and shoot camera, and a Nikon at that. Here my son gets a close-up shot of his own on his cell phone.
I stood in the city and I looked up. All images creative commons non commercial
Under the freeway bridge leading to Brisbane city. I had got up at 4am hoping to grab a sunrise however storm clouds had covered most of the light. No problem, the cloud was dramatic enough to make up for it! All images creative commons non commercial
This orb or mirrorball was sitting on the river due to the Brisbane Festival. It's purpose? no idea. All I know is it looks cool during blue hour. All images creative commons non commercial
One of the most overly taken photos in the world. I still had to take though. Even if hundreds of tourists were there at the same time, they couldn't ruin one of the most breathtaking views I have witnessed anywhere in the world. All images creative commons non commercial
This was taken on Kangaroo Point, across the water from the CBD of Brisbane. Due to the low amount of light polution on this side of the river, on a clear night you can see a full sky of stars over the city. I don't recall ever going to another city where this is possible. Every type of weather condition presents it's own type of interesting subjects to shoot. A storm had caused it to rain for 2 weeks non stop, creating lakes over all of the farmland. These lakes served as a mirror for the clouds above. A bit of luck with a cloud break caused the sunset to burst through under the storm cloud, creating this scene. After sunset, just before complete darkness sets in, you hit something called 'blue hour'. The sky goes a vivid dark blue which offers a colourful backdrop to the recently illuminated city. All images creative commons non commercial
