Puddle reflection: Leaves, limbs, asphalt
Recipe with three ingredients. Preparation time 1/60 sec. 0 calories from trans fat. Do not freeze.
DP026-2013. Posted January 26; processed January 25.

I always like the effect of leaves floating atop reflected tree limbs. In this case the reflection was in a very shallow puddle of snow melt water on an asphalt walk. I liked the addition of the lighter specks in the asphalt to the overall effect.

Thanks for all the comments to my squirrel shot. Fingers crossed that most of the drying out equipment will be gone from the house later today.

The Glory Hole (2010)

* This is one of my favorite spots to photograph in Jasper. You can go here at any time of day and come away with great images. Of course, sunrise and sunset are the ideal time to go, offering many stunning images.

For the next few days I will be posting images from this location, taken over the last four years. It is never the same from one year to the next.

This is Jasper in January yet it looks more like October during this visit!!

The lights from the sky reflect on the water after the sun set.

With my rented ultra-wide and post-rain conditions, I left work and headed over to Royce Hall and Powell Library, both gorgeous buildings.
Being very careful to center the camera with the building, I took a photo of Powell from the steps of Royce, then walked across and took a photo of Royce from the steps of Powell. Not wanting to choose between the two images, I decided to smoosh them together in Photoshop.
Royce looks better as the top image in my opinion. If you'd like to see it the other way, I invite you to stand on your head.

PS - thanks for all the comments on yesterday's lighthouse photo. I have a DSLR shot of the same scene, which I'll include in a gallery of San Diego pics soon.

Stephen Knapp's Lightpaintings were on exhibit at the Dayton Art institute in the latter half of 2012. It was quite a creative and unique display of light and color that was a joy to photograph. It was one of my first concentrated efforts using a point and shoot camera, and a Nikon at that. Here my son gets a close-up shot of his own on his cell phone.
I stood in the city and I looked up. All images creative commons non commercial
