Allied officers participate in UK Remembrance Day ceremony

Allied officers from the United States, Germany, and France laid wreaths of poppies at the War Memorial in Warminster, United Kingdom, Nov. 11, 2012, as part of the annual Remembrance Day ceremony for the town. Lt. Col. Matthew Scalia (fifth from left), liaison officer for maneuver to the United Kingdom, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, participated in the observance honoring those service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice. This year's service was especially meaningful to the small town as it is home to the 3rd Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment, which lost eight members during its recent deployment to Afghanistan. Scalia said, "Participating in the ceremony was a great honor. I was inspired to see so much of the town attend -- the residents clearly have deep respect for their service members. To be asked to participate clearly illustrates the close ties and friendship our two nations share." (Courtesy photo)
