Back Alley Redemption
This image is very dear to me for a very personal reason. It’s time to open up about an event that changed my life. Back in 1995, I was assaulted in a nightclub. I was missing for 3 hours and was found in a toilet cubicle bashed to a pulp and nursing very peculiar physical evidence of assault . A few years later I required surgery and developed chronic fatigue as a result.
I had this for eight years - during which I saw my 2 kids born. By the grace of God, I’m now out of chronic fatigue but am starting to deal with some of the emotional and psychological scarring which plague me to this day.
But now, 18 years later, I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I’m very close to being well again and when I came across this street art splashed all over the walls of Rutledge Lane in the Hosier Lane precinct, it instantly spoke to me - as if the artist knew I was going to lay my eyes on it. And yes, there is plenty of work to be done.
